Angela Foster-Rice is Vice President, Government and Regulatory Affairs at LanzaJet where she leads the company’s policy work to scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and accelerate a net zero transition for aviation. For more than 25 years, Angela has used her experience in sustainability, environmental policy and as an environmental attorney to advance environmental solutions. 

Prior to LanzaJet, spent nearly 16 years at United Airlines, serving first as Managing Environmental Counsel and then as Managing Director Environmental Affairs and Sustainability, In this role, she United’s environmental regulatory compliance, climate policy, sustainability measures, and SAF strategy. Under Angela’s leadership, United was recognized for its leadership in SAF (first commercial scale use of aviation biofuels and largest investment) and for its industry engagement for aviation climate policy. Angela also played a key role as an expert on carbon markets and biofuels in the United Nation’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection in developing the first global market-based-measure for international aviation CO2 emissions.

In addition to the aviation industry, Angela was general counsel and led policy work for five years in the carbon markets and nature-tech, supporting and expanding the work of her companies in protection and restoration of some of the world’s most high impact forests and carbon and biodiversity rich landscapes. 

Angela is a Board member for the Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards, the Illinois Environmental Council (Education Fund), and for the School for Field Studies. She is also an executive mentor for the Baumhart Center for Social Enterprise and Responsibility. She received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Rice University and her law degree from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
